Create Your Ideal Smile with
Cosmetic Dentistry

Dr. Julie Liberman provides a full scope of cosmetic dentistry services to enhance patients' smiles at her Great Neck, NY, practice. Patients can take advantage of Invisalign®, teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and a variety of other procedures to conceal or eliminate several types of cosmetic concerns. Our team can also combine two or more treatments to create a personally tailored smile makeover that provides stunning, cohesive results.

Understanding Cosmetic Dentistry

Where restorative dentistry focuses on improving health and dental function, cosmetic services are elective procedures intended to boost the aesthetics of your smile. Although many restorative treatments also provide cosmetic benefits, these services largely aim to address conditions such as missing teeth and the effects of periodontal disease. Procedures like veneers or dental bonding can provide the finishing touch to a healthy, structurally sound foundation.

Even if your teeth are otherwise healthy, it is easy to feel self-conscious about worn enamel, staining, or crooked teeth. Oftentimes, patients will go out of their way to avoid smiling or laughing as a result. Fortunately, cosmetic care can help your smile look as healthy as it feels. Even minor enhancements can significantly boost patients' confidence in their smile. This can have a direct impact on your personal and professional life: oftentimes, the simple act of smiling more often can improve relationships with friends and coworkers.

Is Cosmetic Dentistry Right for Me?

In general, most patients are good candidates for cosmetic procedures. However, if you are suffering from tooth decay, periodontal disease, missing teeth, or any other underlying oral health problems, Dr. Liberman strongly recommends receiving treatment for those concerns first. Without a healthy structure underneath, cosmetic improvements can only hide functional problems and their effects will usually not last long.

Cosmetic care can help your smile look as healthy as it feels.

Many of our patients have concerns about affording these types of treatments, as well. Because cosmetic services are primarily elective, they are not usually covered by insurance. However, Dr. Liberman can walk you through our payment plans to help you get the most out of your treatment on any budget.

We provide a full range of cosmetic services, including:

Dental bonding
As one of the most affordable and conservative cosmetic options available, dental bonding is a popular way to conceal minor cracks or chips to a tooth. Applied as malleable white putty, the composite resin material is carefully sculpted to the precise contours of a tooth so that it blends in seamlessly with the enamel. Although dental bonding is primarily a cosmetic service, Dr. Liberman can use the same technique to restore areas that have been treated for dental decay, as well.
Invisalign
Offered as an alternative to traditional orthodontic care, Invisalign can subtly realign your bite in about 18 months. Instead of readjusting crooked teeth with conspicuous metal braces, Dr. Liberman will provide patients with a series of transparent trays that fit imperceptibly and comfortably over the teeth.
Porcelain veneers
Similar to dental bonding, veneers are used to conceal a variety of minor cosmetic concerns, including cracks, deep-set stains, and misalignment. Made of porcelain to better mimic the translucency of your natural enamel, these thin shells blend even more seamlessly with the surrounding teeth. Medical-grade porcelain is resistant to staining and with proper care, veneers can last for years.
Teeth whitening
Dr. Liberman and her team provide take-home whitening kits to gently lift extrinsic (external) stains. Applied to the teeth daily for about two weeks, this bleaching gel gradually lightens the hue of your smile. Patients have complete control over the process: if their teeth are sensitive, they can easily skip a day and come back to the treatment when it is more comfortable.
Smile makeover
This comprehensive plan combines multiple cosmetic procedures into a single treatment strategy. By scheduling and coordinating all of your treatments at once, Dr. Liberman can ensure that the results of each procedure complement one another and create a balanced smile.

In many cases, the doctor can also combine any of these cosmetic procedures with restorative care in order to improve both the health and appearance of your smile.

Your Initial Consultation

Before pursuing any cosmetic treatment, you will first need to meet with Dr. Liberman for an initial consultation. During this meeting, she will first ask a number of questions about your goals for treatment, dental history, and budget. She can then evaluate your overall oral health with an in-depth examination of your smile and existing dental work. Based on the results of this exam, she can make recommendations about which treatments are most appropriate for you. Depending on which procedures you decide to pursue, Dr. Liberman may need to take a series of intraoral photos and x-rays, as well as create diagnostic wax-ups so you can preview and refine the results of your treatment.
