What's the best age to get braces?

Getting braces doesn't have to be a pain. Have your kid's adult teeth fully grown in and crooked but do not know when the best time is to get braces? Each situation is different for the timing of braces. Here's what you need to know about when is the best time to get braces and how your dentist can tell when it's time for you to get them:

When Is The Best Time To Get Braces?

There are two main times when it's best to get braces: as soon as your teeth start growing into place, or later in life when you're an adult and want them for cosmetic reasons. You may ask why would someone want braces as an adult? Sometimes people want their teeth straightened out for aesthetic reasons—and there's nothing wrong with that! It's normal for adults to want straight teeth as kids do. But if you want to wait until adulthood before getting braces, make sure you wear a retainer after getting them removed so your teeth don't move back out of place again!

If you've been thinking about getting braces for a while, but haven't taken the leap yet, we want you to know that there are many factors at play here—and one of them is the age at which most people get braces. Most dentists will tell us that their patients start coming in around 13 or 14 years old; however, they also say that some patients come in much earlier than that (as young as ten years old). It all depends on where they see room for improvement in their patient's oral health and appearance.

Why do dentists recommend waiting before getting braces?

There are several reasons why dentists recommend waiting until after certain milestones have been reached before getting braces, including:

  • The age at which most children should get their permanent teeth is around six years old. Kids need to lose their baby teeth and have their adult teeth grow in before getting braces.
  • The amount of space between the teeth (if there isn't enough space between the teeth, it may cause problems when trying to place brackets and bands)
  • The size of your child's mouth (if their mouth is too small for braces or if they don't have space for retainers once treatment has ended)
