What is Restorative Dentistry?

Restorative dentistry is the practice of improving the health of a person’s mouth, teeth, jaw, and smile. Unlike cosmetic dentistry, which is not essential to a patient’s dental health, restorative dentistry is. Restorative dentistry corrects and remedies tooth decay, chipped or cracked teeth, replaces missing teeth, and improves any significant issues in tooth alignment or structure. The primary goal of restorative dentistry is to provide you with the health and function you used to enjoy. Dr. Liberman at Great Neck Family Dentist can perform a wide range of restorative dental procedures.

Who is Eligible for Restorative Dentistry?

During a comprehensive consultation, you and Dr. Liberman will decide what dental procedure is right for you. The comprehensive consultation consists of a thorough oral examination, a conversation and detailed analysis of your medical history, and, if needed, x-rays. If the function of your teeth, mouth, or jaw are impeded or negatively affected, then you may be eligible for restorative dentistry.

Procedures that Dr. Liberman Performs

Dr. Liberman is the sole practitioner at Great Neck Family Dentist, and she has the experience to provide you with a variety of restorative dental procedures.

Dental Crowns and Bridges are two different types of restorative dentistry procedures used to protect and repair damaged teeth. Dental crowns and bridges are small caps - usually made out of porcelain or zirconia - that are placed on top of the tooth. Dental crowns and bridges may be suggested by Dr. Liberman for protection after a root canal, support a tooth with a large filling, help replace a missing tooth, and provide structural integrity to a chipped or cracked tooth.

Dental Bonding can be used to treat and improve superficial cracks and chips. Dental bonding works by applying a malleable material to the affected area, which is then dried with a high-powered light. The applied material is the same color as the tooth enamel, so there is no need to worry about an unsightly appearance.

Dental Implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the patient’s jaw. Once the dental implant is secured into the jaw, dental crowns, bridges, or dentures can be placed on top -thereby completely replacing the missing tooth.

Dental Fillings are used to replace a tooth that has been lost to decay, rotting, or trauma. Dr. Liberman uses an enamel that will seamlessly blend in with the enamel of the affected tooth.

Full mouth reconstruction is an extensive procedure for patients who have several different significant dental issues. In this case, a variety of procedures and treatments may be utilized. In this case, Dr. Liberman will work with you to chart out a path that makes sense for your particular needs.
